NYC 988
Free, confidential mental health and substance use support for anyone in New York City, available 24/7 by call, text, or chat. NYC 988 can also help connect people to local crisis services. 

 

Mobile Crisis Teams
In NYC, Mobile Crisis Teams can provide in-person crisis intervention, assessment, de-escalation, and connection to services. Access is available through NYC 988. 

National Crisis Hotlines

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
Available nationwide 24/7 by call, text, and chat for emotional distress, suicidal thoughts, mental health crises, and substance use concerns. 

 

Crisis Text Line
Text HOME to 741741 for free, confidential, 24/7 crisis support in the U.S. Crisis Text Line also states that HOLA works for Spanish support. 

 

SAMHSA National Helpline
Call 1-800-662-HELP (4357) for free, confidential, 24/7 treatment referral and information for mental health and substance use concerns. TTY: 1-800-487-4889. 

 

Veterans Crisis Line
For Veterans, service members, National Guard and Reserve members, and the people who care about them. Call 988 and press 1, text 838255, or use online chat. You do not need to be enrolled in VA benefits or health care to use it. 

Warm Lines and Peer Support

NAMI Warmline Directory
Warmlines are peer-run lines for emotional support when you need someone to talk to but are not in immediate danger. Resources for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Communities

988 for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People
The 988 Lifeline offers support by call, text, chat, and ASL videophone. For TTY users, the Lifeline advises using a preferred relay service or dialing 711 then 988.  https://deaflead.org/

 

DeafLEAD
DeafLEAD provides direct information about accessing 988 by videophone, text, and chat for Deaf and hard of hearing users.

Lighthouse Guild

LGBTQ+ and Identity-Specific Support

The Trevor Project
24/7 crisis support for LGBTQ+ young people by phone, text, and chat. 

 

Trans Lifeline
Peer support run by and for trans people in the U.S. Call or text (877) 565-8860. Their site notes that the hotline is not open 24/7, so it is best listed as a peer-support resource rather than a round-the-clock emergency line.
